STEPS
The National Association for Children with Lower Limb Abnormalities
Less than twenty years ago, families of children with lower
limb abnormalities had nowhere to turn. This was the situation
Sue Banton found herself in following the birth of her son
Daniel with club feet. The frustration and isolation she
faced motivated her to set up STEPS as a self-help group
in 1980. Eight years later STEPS became a registered charity
and now helps over 2,000 families a year.
Our core objective is to provide quality information and
support. We operate a telephone help-line (Mon-Fri 9am-4.30pm)
and have booklets on Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip,
Congenital Talipes Equinovarus and lower limb deficiencies.
We also have a network of local groups around the country
and a database of other families who we can put parents
in touch with. For further information, please contact Karen
Middleton (Help-line & Information Advisor) at the above
address.
