Guarding Against Breast Cancer.
There is increasing evidence that lifestyle plays a significant
part in the onset of breast cancer. Reducing risk depends
to no small extent on recognizing the lifestyle factors
and changing for the better.
Oestrogen levels are key biologically. Any lifestyle changes
aim to reduce high levels of the hormone.
- Breast-feeding has been shown to reduce the risk of
cancer.
- Animal fats contribute to overall oestrogen levels.
A low-fat diet counters this.
- Other dietary factors can be beneficial soy products.
e.g. tofu, miso, complete with oestrogens at specific
receptors in the body.
- Excessive alcohol increases oestrogen production, therefore,
moderate your intake.
- Regular exercise; this can reduce breast cancer risk
before the menopause by an average of 58%.
