Choosing a Health Club
Finding a new health and fitness club to suit your needs
is not always easy. But here are a number of pointers to
help you in your decision. Remember that the more expensive
clubs are not necessarily the best.
- Ideally the club should be within a 10-minute walk or
drive from your home or place of work. Any longer and
you increase the chances that you will talk yourself out
of going.
- Check out the types and variety of equipment available
– do they suit your needs? Are they well maintained
and in good order?
- Check out the qualifications of the trainers –
they should be members of accredited national organization.
Ask if you can sit in on any training sessions, see the
trainers in action. Are they competent, attentive, professional?
- Look closely at the general condition of the club.
Is it clean? Are the changing rooms well facilitated?
Are there clean washing facilities with hot water?
- Make note of the opening times – do they tie
in with your daily schedule?
- Are the staff friendly, knowledgeable, understanding?
