Getting The Best Out of Exercise
Whatever your age exercise has enormous benefits. Regular
exercise reduces overall health risks, improves your circulation,
helps to lower blood pressure and there is even some evidence
that it may reduce the incidence of certain cancers.
Ensure you develop exercise programs that take into account
your level of fitness and age.
- Always begin slowly.
- Include ranges of exercises which provide flexibility
and strength; and improve cardio-respiratory fitness.
- Adapt exercises to meet your abilities e.g. sitting
instead of standing – if you have joint problems.
- If you are an exercise novice try to ensure your heart
rate does not exceed 120 beats per minute.
- As soon as you experience discomfort stop exercising.
