Keeping An Activity Log

A great way of monitoring your fitness progress is to keep a log of your activities. This does not require anything special – a small notebook or an old diary is more than sufficient. The log enables you to keep track of the exercise you do and the energy you expend each day, not just in training but in daily life. If you know how much exercise you require the log will provide you with the information for fine tuning.

Typically you will take a page for each day and entries might include time taken walking the dog or climbing the stairs at work as well as your fitness program.

At the end of each day total up the time spent in physical endeavour. The aim is to increase your energy expenditure stepwise each week.

The log has the added bonus of identifying for you times of the day when you might increase your physical output.
