Healthguiders’s Stressbusters

Unwinding From The Pace

Much of the stress we experience every day can be attributed to the pace of our lives. It can be a vicious cycle. The more we achieve, the more is expected of us (or we expect of ourselves), the more stressed we become and the faster we work to keep up.
So, take a rain check regularly. Unwind, put your feet up and pamper yourself.

  1. Maintain a hobby – preferably one that is not linked to the clock. When we become engrossed in our hobbies we stop worrying about the stresses in our lives.
  2. Take a good walk in the country – there is much to be said for the relaxing effect of a pastoral environment.
  3. Try a non-competitive sport – sailing, canoeing, and swimming for instance.
  4. Read a good book – a novel not a work-related tome.
  5. Take up meditation or yoga.
