Start Each Day Fresh
There is nothing worse than starting a new morning's work
with your workspace cluttered by the results of the previous
day's hard toils. The answer: before you leave the office
every evening set aside 15 minutes to clear up.
- File away papers you need in your file drawer.
- Throw away the scraps of paper, old memos.
- Check through your mail pile: throw away any unrequired
mail; place those that need a reply into a "Replies
To Do" file; and those that require reading into
your "To Read" file.
- Listen to your voice-mail messages: delete all of them
after you have recorded on your "To Do" list
those that require responses.
- Reply to urgent e-mails only, and again record those
that require less urgent replies on your "To Do"
list for the next day.
Carry out this five-step plan each evening, then go home
and relax in the knowledge that tomorrow will be a fresh
day which starts without clutter. Great for the morale.
