Stamp On The Itch

If you’re a sportsman probably you’ll already have heard of athlete's foot – or, for that matter, experienced its worst. Athlete’s foot is in fact a fungal infection of the skin. The fungus, a Tinea, is akin to ringworm. Tinea loves warm, moist places and the skin between your toes is ideal, allowing it to grow and spread.

To prevent infection it is vital that you clean your feet carefully and keep them dry as possible. Ensure you wear leather footwear – plastic shoes increase the tendency for your feet to sweat.

If you are prone to athlete’s foot why not consider applying tea tree oil to the usually affected areas. Tea tree oil is extracted from the leaves the Melaleuca alternifolia tree, a native of Australia, and has excellent anti-fungal properties.

Apply thinly once a day two to three times per week for good effect.

Tea tree oil products are widely available in pharmacists and health stores but ensure you only purchase those which contain a 100% concentration.
