Taking The Strain Out Of Backache

Backache is a problem which affects men big time it seems. Yet they rarely do anything about it until finally they end up prostrate in agony. If you’ve been suffering from backache on and off – especially at the end of a long day – here are a few tips for reducing the chances you’ll have it again. But remember: if you have severe incapacitating pain, see your doctor first.

Increasing the strength of the musculature supporting the back can reduce any risk of problems. Yoga is a gentle but effective way to achieve this. Alternatively try callanetics. No don’t shy away. Yoga isn’t about sitting around in a leotard. It can be equally beneficial for men. Check out the mound of literature on the subject for back exercises you can quickly and easily fit into your busy day.

Cut down on fat in your diet. High fat diets are linked to narrowing of the arteries (atherosclerosis). This includes arteries serving the back. Reducing blood flow decreases the health of back structure – bones, disks, muscles and nerves.

If you sit at a desk all day, think about the position of your back. If you spend hours hunched over – stop now. Rearrange your desk environment so everything is within easy reach and you can sit comfortable.
