Coenzyme Q10

Coenzyme Q10 is probably one of those substances we’ve all heard of but have never been quite sure what it is or what it does.

Well, it is in fact a fat-soluble nutrient which is structurally very akin to vitamin E. Indeed it has similar antioxidant properties.

Supplements have been shown to:

  1. Cure some types of breast cancer.
  2. Improve glucose in those with diabetes.
  3. Improve certain types of heart failure.
  4. Help reduce high blood pressure.

Good dietary sources of Coenzyme Q10 include chicken, mackerel, soya, whole grains and beef.

The supplement form can be purchased in most good health stores and a dose of between 30 – 90 mg per day is usually recommended for optimum effect.
